Name: Drought

Display Field: Legend

Type: Feature Layer

Geometry Type: esriGeometryPolygon

Description: The entire state can experience drought due to increasing periods without precipitation, increased temperatures, and increased usage. To approximate increased drought risk due to climate change, areas with "Drought Risk Present" have areas of groundwater depletion (SWMI Cat 4 or 5), areas where impervious cover reduces recharge potential and increases runoff (SWMI basins with >10% impervious cover), and critical areas adjacent to public wells (MassDEP Wellhead Zones I & II). Areas with "Great Drought Risk" have both impervious cover and at least one other indicator of use.
