Description: The Coastal Change Analysis Program (C-CAP) is developing a nationallystandardized database on land cover and habitat change in the coastalregions of the United States. C-CAP inventories wetland habitats andadjacent uplands and monitors changes inthese habitats on a 1 to 5 year cycle. The monitoring cycle will varyaccording to the rate and magnitude of change in each geographic region.Satellite imagery (primarily Landsat Thematic Mapper), aerialphotography, and field data are interpreted, classified, analyzed, andintegrated with other digital data in a geographic information system(GIS). The resulting land cover change databases are disseminated indigital form for use by anyone wishing to conduct geographic analysis inthe completed regions.Purpose: The Coastal Change Analysis Program (C-CAP) is designed to monitorchange in terrestrial land cover withincoastal environments of the United States including the Atlantic,Pacific, and Gulf of Mexico, the Great Lakes, Alaska, Hawaii, and allU.S. territories and possessions. C-CAP classifies types of land cover, wetland habitats, and adjacent uplands using remote sensing techniques(primarily satellite imagery and aerial photography). <a href='xml/ccap_2010_mosaic.xml'
